Revised October 6, 2025 Group Conscience
(It is suggested that the meeting chairperson should have at least 30 days sobriety)
- Opening: Good evening: My name is ___________ and I am a recovering sexaholic (pause). Welcome to this meeting of Sexaholics Anonymous. This is a closed meeting only those desiring their own personal sexual sobriety should attend. This is a no smoking no vaping facility. Please use the designated areas outside to smoke/vape.
- Moment of Silence & Serenity Prayer: Will you please join me in a moment of silence, followed by the Serenity Prayer
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Thy will not mine be done. (SA 95)
- Will someone please read The SA Purpose, found on page 201
- Chairperson Option: Choose one or more from the following readings:
- Will someone please read the Twelve Steps of Sexaholics Anonymous, found on Page 6, or page 208?
- Will someone please read from Chapter Five of Alcoholics Anonymous, found on pages 206 and 207?
- Chairperson Option: Choose two or more from the following readings:
- Will someone please read The Problem; found on page 203?
- Will someone please read The Solution; found on pages 204 and 205?
- Will someone please read What is a Sexaholic and What is Sexual Sobriety, found on page 202?
- Newcomers: Is there anyone here today attending their first SA meeting? If so, will you please let us know your first name, not to embarrass you, but so that we can get to know you better. Read pgs. 1-4, pg. 8, & pgs. 191-193 if there is a Newcomer.
If there are newcomers, pass around a copy of the pamphlet "Sexaholics Anonymous" for members to write their names and phone numbers for the newcomer. Do not sign if it is of the opposite sex.
- Is there anyone attending this SA meeting for the first time? Will you please introduce yourself?
- Introductions: Let's take a minute to introduce ourselves by first name and state our length of sexual sobriety. I'll begin, and we will go around the room. My name is ________, I'm a sexaholic and I have been sexually sober for _____________.
- Meeting Format: This is a step discussion meeting lasting about an hour. If you need to leave before it ends, please do so quietly. We take our readings from the SA White Book, AA Big Book and AA 12 & 12; studying a step a month. Please silence your cell phones & limit activity during the meeting so there are minimal disruptions. Our practice is for each member to read a paragraph or two passing to the next person. This meeting permits discussion after each person's reading. Out of courtesy for the group, please be conscious of the length of your share, and share only once until everyone has had the opportunity to speak. The chairperson reserves the right to stop excessive shares.
***WEEK 5 is a Lead or Chairpersons Choice if no Lead is available***
(Please refer to the Lead format) - Meeting Guidelines: In the Spirit of Unity, here are our meeting guidelines:
- There is no cross talk
- We don't give advice, we talk in the "I", not the "we" or the "you" speaking from our own experience.
- We don't get carried away analyzing what caused our behaviors or attitudes. We avoid Politics, religious dogma and other divisive issues. We also avoid explicit sexual descriptions, sexually abusive language.
- We avoid dumping, self-pity, blaming others
- We don't take the inventories of others.
- We do speak honestly of where we really are today.
- We do lead with our weaknesses and take the risk of total self-disclosure.
- By attending on time and sharing regularly, we give ourselves to others in the group. We get back recovery.
- During the final 10 minutes of the meeting (at approximately 9:15), you may share any personal issues which are threatening to your sobriety and/or sanity.
- If someone feels another is getting too explicit in their share, they may so signify by raising their hand or quietly leaving the room.
- While we are an anonymous fellowship, anonymity does not imply legal confidentiality. In particular, sharing first-hand information about abuse of vulnerable populations in which the appropriate authorities have not been notified may result in a report to the authorities. Talk with your sponsor before divulging very personal details &/or criminal activities.
- At 9:25 - Seventh Tradition: Announce it's time for our Seventh Tradition. We have no dues or fees, but we are self-supporting through our own contributions for expenses such as literature and rent. This meeting has committed to make a rent payment to our host of $15/month and $10/month to intergroup. As we pass the basket, I will read the tradition correlating with the current month found on page 209.
- Does anyone have any SA related announcements for the group?
- Anniversaries: Is anyone celebrating an SA sobriety anniversary today or this past week?
- Sponsorship: This group values both sponsoring and being sponsored. A sponsor is one who is at least a bit farther in his, or her understanding and practice of the Twelve Steps of SA. A sponsor is a guide, a mentor, a coach, someone who helps us understand ourselves and our sobriety. If you are willing to sponsor, please raise your hand. We encourage everyone to have a current sponsor.
***GET A SPONSOR***
- Anonymity Reminder: Anything you have heard at the meeting is strictly the opinion of the individual participants: the principles of SA are found in our Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions. This is an anonymous program. Please keep the name, address, phone number and personal story of anyone to meet or learn about in SA to yourself. And what we say here, let it stay here.
- Closing Reading – Chairman's Choice:
- Will someone please read A vision for You, found on page 210?
- Will someone please read the 9th Step promises from pages 83-84 in the Big Book. (Hand out copy to the reader.)
- Third Step Prayer: Please remember that we are guests in this facility and must leave it in the same condition we found it by 9:45. Make sure the lights are out and the doors are latched. Help me close the meeting with the Third Step Prayer.
CHAIRPERSON CONSIDER LAYING OUT 3RD STEP PRAYER SHEETS TO INCLUDE EVERYONE PRESENT
God, I offer myself to thee, to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties, that a victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy love, and Thy way of live. May I do thy will always!
Keep Coming Back, it works if you work it!
